Please NO ATTACHMENTS other than art/photography.
PROSE & SCRIPT
Please do not submit more than 800 words in total per submission period. This means you can send one piece worth 800 words, or 8 pieces worth 100 words each, and/or anything in between. Novel excerpts are also welcome. We will not accept attachments. Please paste your submission into the body of your email along with a brief (50-100 words) biography and your contact information.
POETRY
Please do not send more than five poems per submission period. Try to keep the length of poems under 40 lines. We will not turn down longer pieces, but shorter pieces will be considered first. We will not accept attachments. Please paste your submission in the body of your email along with a brief (50-100 words) biography and your contact information.
ARTWORK/PHOTOGRAPHY will be considered for the cover and/or interior of each issue. Send us a piece of work you believe represents a slice of life and briefly describe why in the body of your email. Please do not send more than five pieces per submission period. Attach your artwork as low resolution files along with a brief (50-100 words) biography in the body of your email and your contact information. If your piece is accepted we will request the resolution required for publication.
Biographies will be alphabetically archived in out Contributors tab. So please make sure it is something worth reading. Feel free to add links to your website and/or blog so our readers know where else to find you.
MIXED SUBMISSIONS
If you’d like to submit a mix of written word and artwork/photography, please send your artwork/photography separately, unless they are meant to be seen together.
Response times will vary. Please be patient with us. We read every single submission that adheres to the guidelines. If you are one of those writers that can't stop checking your inbox for the verdict (and which kind of writer isn't like this?), perhaps you can find some consolation in the fact that the later we reply, the more we like your work and want to mull it over.
When you submit, you will receive an automatic response stating that we have received your submission. If you don't receive this automatic response, please send it again. If you send more than one submission, however, you will only receive the one auto-response. Please don't fret and email us asking if we got the second one. Because we got it.
Note: if you have clearly neglected to follow the guidelines, for example, directed us to view your work on the web, it is more than likely that we will ignore it.
Simultaneous submissions are totally fine. We wouldn't expect anything different. But please do us the courtesy of letting us know immediately if your work is accepted elsewhere.
Previously published works are also fine. But please make sure you let us know where it was previously published in your submission, so that if it's accepted, we can include it in the credits. Also make sure all the rights to the work has reverted back to you. That said, unpublished work will take precedence over published work.
By sending us your work, you are stating that the work is your own and does not infringe on any copyright. The rights of any work published in this journal remain with the author.
We reserve the right to copy edit your work before publishing it. Any creative changes to content will be approved by the author prior to publication. We also reserve the right to use your work in all promotional material for the journal.
